Winter in Sydney doesn’t get any better than today – a beautiful warm 28 degrees celsius and clear blue skies. I set out today to capture the colour and mood of a warm winter Sunday and found the perfect subject in the ferris wheel at Luna Park, Sydney. Unlike warm, hazy summer days with the sun high in the sky, Sydney’s winter skies tend to be a deep blue which contrasted beautifully with the red, yellow, green and blue tones of the ferris wheel “baskets”. The lower angle of the sun brought out the benefits of shooting with a polarising filter to produce a rich, vibrant scene synonymous with Sydney.
